Having children can get you all stressed out thinking of planning family getaways every time they get time off from school – winter holidays, spring breaks and the loooooong summer. One of the most commonly considered vacation prospect for families traveling with kids is theme parks. Call it cliché, but when it comes to theme parks, Disneyland is the most dreamed of place where parents would want to take their kids. Booking a family vacation in the Disney resort also promises a lot of recreational things to do, not only for the kids, but for adults as well.
Flying thousands of miles to the United States – be it Florida or California – can be very costly if you’re living in Asia. For a family of four, plane tickets alone cause hefty damages to your bank account. And though it is true that family vacations are priceless, not all can afford it. However, parents raising kids in Asia have not one but two Disneylands much closer to them!
Tokyo Disney is the first Disney theme park and resort to open outside the United States. It has been frequented by Japan’s neighboring countries since the 1980’s. Over the years, Tokyo Disney has added more attractions to keep their visitors entertained. One of the most recent is the Tokyo DisneySea which started operations in September 2001. Tokyo DisneySea is nautical-themed, based on water/sea exploration and adventure.
Then there’s the much anticipated Hong Kong Disney, whose construction took two years to finish. People in nearby countries were so excited, plane tickets to Hong Kong were purchased even months before its opening in September 2005. Hong Kong Disney is rich in culture, actually having feng shui-ed their layout plan, something very faithful to the Chinese customs. That being said, I can’t wait for the summer! Passports renewed, plane tickets booked, room resorts reserved. My children will be so thrilled to have another, but different, Disney experience! Oh, and it’s the year of the rat – maybe Mickey Mouse has something in store for all of us!
