Not every vacation needs to cost a lot of money. There are many ways that families can go on vacation and not break the bank. You may decide to pass on Iguassu Falls on the Brazil/Argentina border (left image), but driving to Niagara Falls (right image) will probably fit into the family travel budget.
Keeping your Affordable Family Vacation close to home is one way to keep the costs down. Even with the sky-high gas prices, driving a family of four is still usually cheaper than flying. Staying at affordable hotels is another way, and of course camping will stretch the dollar even further (many say camping is funner because the kids are freer outdoors).
One thing is certain. Planning ahead for your Affordable Family Vacation will allow you to save the most. Take your time, shop around and compare alternatives. Maybe try to change your dates to the off season and capitalize on low season specials.
