Family Buffet Dining Tips
Visiting Las Vegas and not trying some of its world renowned
buffets would be like going to Paris and not visiting the Louvre Museum. Okay,
maybe the Louvre's analogy is a bit too extreme, so let's say that not taking
your family to a buffet in Las Vegas is like not watching the latest James Bond
movie...it's an experience you don't want to miss.
If you are going on a family trip to Las Vegas, buffets will
offer you a wonderful way to find compromises and satisfy all the different
tastes and cravings your kids may be having during the trip. Needless to say,
going to a buffet as a whole family would also be more affordable than going to
a regular restaurant.
When going on a family trip to Las Vegas, even health conscious families can
find buffets that offer healthful choices. For example Green Valley Ranch
Casino's buffet, called Feast Around The World Buffet,
includes a low-carb menu. To prevent heartburn, try not to mix different types
of foods too much. For example, if you are in the mood for chicken, select only
those items that have chicken in them and go for seafood or beef the next time.
If you really want to eat healthy while dining at buffets,
there are a few simple rules. Go over all the available buffet items carefully
and select only 2-3 of them and then skip the dessert (difficult, but
possible!). Finish your meal with a pile of raw green salad (add no dressing)
and you'll never complain about buffets again. For desserts, we recommend you
take your family to a buffet at the Aladdin or Bellagio,
but in this case, eat desserts only and skip everything else. If you are
planning on having desserts, eat the main meal a few hours before or a couple
of hours afterwards (desserts include fruit and fruit salad). To help flush
sugar from you and your kids' system, drink as much water as possible about 30
minutes after eating.
Las Vegas
offers buffets of all sizes, tastes, decors and budgets. If your palate is not
the absolute monarch of your senses and you are also a visual connoisseur, we
recommend Paradise
Garden Buffet at Flamingo Hilton hotel, where you can observe live penguins
and flamingos while enjoying your food. We also recommend the Cravings
buffet at the Mirage, where the visual glamour of the venue matches the quality
of the food.
Buffet dining in Las
Vegas is remarkably inexpensive. Even the most
glamorous buffet selections offered at Aladdin, Wynn, Bellagio, and Paris Las
Vegas seldom cost more than $20 per person, and that's for a dinner menu.
